How to Fill and Sign a PDF Form Without Printing

Many forms still arrive as a PDF and ask you to print, fill in by hand, sign and scan. You can skip the printer. With an editor in your browser you can type into the form, cover mistakes and place an image of your signature.

Fill in the form

1. Open Edit PDF and choose the form.
2. Make sure the Add text tool is selected. Tap the page where the text should go and type.
3. Use the size and color boxes to match the form. Use the ✥ handle above a text box to move it into place.
4. Use the arrows at the top right to go to the next page.

Cover a mistake

Choose White-out and drag a box over anything you want to hide. It paints a white rectangle on the page, and you can type new text on top. Note that this is a cover, not a true removal. The original text is still inside the file underneath, so do not rely on it to hide sensitive details.

Add your signature

1. Sign your name on plain white paper with a dark pen and take a clear, well lit photo. A PNG with a transparent background works best, but a normal photo is fine on a white form.
2. Select Add image, choose the picture, drag it onto the signature line and use the round handle at the corner to resize it.
3. Select Save PDF to download the finished form.

Good to know

• A picture of your signature is not the same as a certified digital signature. Most schools, employers and offices accept it, but banks, courts and government departments sometimes require their own e-signature process. Check the instructions on your form.
• You can type in English, Urdu, Arabic or Hindi. Text that is not English is added as a picture, so it cannot be selected afterwards.
• Everything happens in your browser, so your form is not uploaded.
