About this tool
A PDF stores details you do not see on the page, such as a title, an author name, and the name of the software that made it. These can reveal more than you intend, for example a personal name or a company name left over from an old template. This tool shows you what is currently stored, lets you change it, or clears it in one step before you share the file.
How to use it
- Choose your PDF. The current title, author and other details appear in the boxes.
- Edit any field, or leave a field empty to clear just that one.
- Select Save changes to keep your edits, or Remove all metadata to clear everything at once.
Questions and answers
Does this remove all hidden information from a PDF?
It clears the standard document details (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer). Some PDF makers also store other hidden data, such as embedded thumbnails or custom tags, which this tool may not reach.
Will this change how my PDF looks?
No. It only changes the document details, not the text or images on the pages.
Why does my PDF show details I never typed?
Many PDF makers fill these in automatically, for example with your computer's username or the name of the software used to create or edit the file.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The details are read and changed inside your browser.
Your files stay with you
This tool opens and changes your file inside your own browser. Your documents are not uploaded to a server. Keep a copy of your original file, and on a shared computer delete downloaded files when you are done.
