About this tool

A 500 KB limit is one of the tightest you will meet, and it usually shows up on government job portals, scholarship forms and some email systems. This page opens the Compress PDF tool with the target already set to 500 KB, so you just choose your file and go. If your PDF has photos or a scanned page, the tool lowers the quality step by step until it fits, or tells you if it could not get there.

How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF. The tool checks whether it has selectable text or is a scan.
  2. Keep the target at 500 KB, or change it if your form allows more.
  3. Select Compress PDF and download the result once it is under the limit.

When this is useful

  • FPSC, PPSC and other government job application portals with a strict file-size cap.
  • Scholarship and admission forms that reject anything over 500 KB.
  • Email systems that block large attachments.
  • Uploading a signed offer letter or affidavit to a web form.

Tips for best results

  • If your PDF is a phone scan, Scan mode usually reaches 500 KB faster than Keep text mode.
  • Remove any pages you do not need before compressing — fewer pages means an easier target.
  • If 500 KB cannot be reached, the tool gives you its smallest result and says so, rather than failing silently.

Good to know

A PDF that is already mostly text may not shrink much, because there is little to compress. In that case 500 KB is sometimes not reachable without turning pages into pictures — Scan mode will get you there, but the text will no longer be selectable.

Your files stay with you

This tool opens and changes your file inside your own browser. Your documents are not uploaded to a server.

Questions and answers

Will 500 KB always be reachable?

Usually yes for scanned documents, because Scan mode can compress pages heavily. A PDF with very large uncompressed photos may need a couple of tries at a stronger level.

Can I still pick a different target?

Yes. The target size field is already filled with 500, but you can change it to any size, such as 200 KB or 1 MB, before you compress.

Does compressing to 500 KB remove pages?

No. The tool never removes pages on its own. If you need fewer pages, use Remove pages first, then compress.
